MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) – Action News 5 has some positive news this morning. FedEx's "Bear Force One" earned an award from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
The Memphis based company helped rescue a bear from North Carolina.
The bear is named Ben, and he is a black grizzly bear hybrid. He suffered in a concrete cage in a zoo for years before receiving help.
FedEx Express flew the bear across the country to a natural habitat in California.
Of course his trip was comfy. Ben was given climate-controlled transportation, and fed while in route to his new destination.
The 42-person FedEx team dubbed the flight "Bear Force One"
PETA is presenting the company with a framed certificate of appreciation.
