Jackson mayor declares state of emergency

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr., declared a State of Emergency Wednesday in anticipation of Tropical Storm Isaac.

Johnson said he expects a significant weather event with high winds and flooding. He said the biggest concern for the city is flooding.

The emergency declaration will help the city procure resources faster.

Jackson residents are asked to call 3-1-1 for all non-emergency reports until 11 p.m.
