MCCOMB, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The outer bands of Isaac were causing some problems in southwest Mississippi Wednesday.

Pike County has issued a dusk-to-dawn curfew for Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. The City of McComb has also issued a curfew effective Wednesday at 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Thursday.

"Obviously we are on the worst side of this, we are already experiencing trees down, we expect 40 to 45 miles as hour sustained winds, with gusts up to 70 for a long period of time," said Pike County Sheriff Mark Shepherd.

A steady, strong wind was blowing in McComb Wednesday afternoon and had knocked down at least two trees causing power outages on Bendat Street.

McComb Mayor Whitney Rawlings said city personnel were handling the problems caused by Isaac. McComb was expecting up to 70 mile an hour winds late Wednesday.

"We had two trees down across our streets that have caused problems, but with this forecast we would expect more of the same tonight and it will probably cause us some real problems," Rawlings said.

The weather was much better in Brookhaven, but there was still wind, rain and power outages.

A shelter in Crystal Springs at the Highland Baptist Church had a few people. The same shelter housed 165 people during Katrina, church disaster coordinator Ann Rials said.
