About 78,600 without power as Isaac swipes Miss. - MSNewsNow.com - Jackson, MS
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Utility companies said Wednesday night they were working to restore power to about 78,600 customers in south and central Mississippi.
Most of the outages at 7 p.m. CDT Wednesday were in the three coastal counties and other areas hardest hit by Isaac.
Coast Electric Power Association reported 19,705 outages. Entergy Mississippi had nearly 9,900.
Electric power associations, which primarily serve rural customers, had 38,000 outages.
Earlier in the day, Mississippi Power Co. had reported about 11,000 outages. Updated figures were expected after 9 p.m. CDT.
