Tyler Russell passed for 175 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 56-9 win over Jackson State.
The junior led the dogs to 35 first half points.
MSU coach Dan Mullen feels the Dogs starting quarterback has not reached his full potential.
"I think there are some things we have to improve on. He's not as sharp as I would have liked to see him. I think he played well. I expect him to be even sharper," said Mullen.
