JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

About 30 staff members taking care of children at Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital received a special treat for their hard work this Labor Day. The north Jackson restaurant Olive Garden cooked up a super lunch meal for the 4th floor staff.

The culinary manager, Kevin Nelson, loaded up his vehicle with deserts, tea and favorites from the Italian style restaurant. Then it was off to Batson Children's Hospital on the campus of UMMC in Jackson.

"We are serving the doctors, nurses, social workers, patients everyone on the 4th floor. Today we are doing lasagna, spaghetti with marinara, tiramisu as a desert and of course salad and breadsticks."

Arrival of the tasty treats put smiles on all those at the nurses station.

Nationwide Olive Garden is celebrating its 11th consecutive year of delivering a heaping batch of delicious food.

This year more than 750 restaurants nationwide delivered special lunches to honor firefighters, police officers and hospital staff who serve their communities.
