The heat advisories have been expanded for more of Mississippi for this afternoon and will last all day long and into tomorrow. Heat advisories simply mean that the heat index is expected to reach to 101 - 106 with a chance of heat illness during this stretch of weather.
Highs will be in the mid 90s, and the heat index expected to climb to near 100 by late morning/early afternoon. Winds will be west at10-15 mph.
Tonight there will be a slight chance of rain in the early evening hours. Temps will drop to the mid 70s under clearing skies.
Winds will slightly shift directly from the south at 5-10mph. Mostly clear after midnight and staying clear until the Wednesday morning.
Wednesday, the Heat Advisory is still up and will stay active until 7pm. The heat advisory will continue to include central and western Mississippi.
Additional counties in the delta are also included in the heat advisory, and there's only at 10-20% chance of a spot shower in the afternoon hours.
Temps will reach into the upper 90s, and we could see a few areas upgraded from a Heat Advisory to possibly a Heat Watch or Warning.
