Hit a pothole? Who to call?

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson man says he hit a bump in the road early Sunday morning resulting in him calling for a tow truck and a lot of damage to his vehicle. He called 3 On Your Side for help.

Jairollie Winston says he was cruising along about 40 miles per hour when he hit street repair on TV Road in southwest Jackson. One section of the street remains unpaved after work over a large culvert. The abrupt jolt resulted in a flat tire and damage to the frame of his 2003 Buick.

Winston called to show us the what happened, and says the City of Jackson should be held responsible for repairs. Winston said police showed up and asked if he was okay, but no report was filed.

We contacted Jackson, a city spokesman said Winston can file a claim for damage by calling the Risk Management Division.

If you need to file a claim for pothole damage within the City of Jackson, call 601-960-1039.
