Last week Mississippi was bracing for Hurricane Isaac. Isaac was no Katrina, but the hurricane left a lot of flooding and wind damage. Flood damage will take quite a while to repair. Thousands lost power; Entergy reported that this was their fourth worst power outage to hit the company's system.
The size of the storm and the magnitude of the damage to power lines made it even more difficult for Entergy. You couldn't go anywhere without seeing trucks from all over the country working long days to get the power back on to homes and businesses.
We are all dependent on our electricity and we don't have much patience when it goes out, but Entergy did an outstanding job of managing the crisis. The next time you see one of Entergy's employees you might just want to give them a big thank you for a job well done.
