Rankin Co. pair pleads guilty to child abuse

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Rankin County man and woman pleaded guilty to 14 counts of felony child abuse involving a 4-year-old child.

Rebecca Harrell was sentenced to 25-years in prison, with 10 years suspended in Rankin County Court Wednesday. After serving 15 years behind bars, Harrell faces 5 years supervised probation and no contact with the victim.

Stephen Magee's sentencing has been put off until September 24.

Harrell and Magee are accused of physically abusing and nearly killing Magee's four-year-old son last October.

The child stopped breathing while he was with Magee and Harrell at their Rankin County home.
