Hinds Supervisors may reconsider sheriff department budget cuts

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Hinds County Board of Supervisors could reconsider slashing the sheriff's department budget, at its meeting scheduled for Monday.

The Hinds County Sheriff's budget was cut by $2.5 million. The money will be used, in part, to give all Hinds County employees a $100 a month across the board pay raise.

That action came after a motion from Supervisor Kenneth Stokes, who was presiding, as vice president of the board.

Supervisors Robert Graham and Peggy Hopson Calhoun voted against the cuts.
