Changes in Hinds County District Attorney Office

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

There are ongoing shakeups in the Hinds County District Attorney's office. WLBT first reported that a former file clerk for Robert Shuler Smith was indicted by the Attorney General's office on bribery charges.

According to the Attorney General's office, 51-year-old Steven Walter tried to manipulate the outcome of cases and is charged with two counts of accepting bribes.

More recently, we are told Smiths' lead Assistant District Attorney, Scott Ruggillio, was fired. Sources say so were two other ADAs.

They include Armstrong Walter and Neshan Shannon who was let go last month. We are told the departure of these ADAs has nothing to do with the Steven Walters bribery investigation.

Our call to DA Smith was not returned.
