Concerns raised about blood pressure meds and pregnancy

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A growing number of pregnant women are taking drugs to control high blood pressure, and that is a growing concern.

A new study shows nearly 5-percent of pregnant women are prescribed hypertension medication.

Researchers say they're concerned because some hypertension drugs can be harmful to unborn babies during the second and third trimesters.

This study is from researchers at Harvard Medical School, and is published in the American Heart Association's journal "Hypertension."
