A McComb man is headed to prison for taking advantage of an elderly woman. Kenneth Miller, 61, pleaded guilty to exploiting over $16,000 from a 97-year-old bedridden victim.
Miller was then sentenced in Pike County Circuit Court to 10 years with five suspended. He was also ordered to pay $16,439.21 in restitution to the victim, $1,000 to the Mississippi Crime Victim's Compensation Fund, $1,000 for recovery of investigative costs and another $2,000 in fines, plus all court costs.
The Attorney General's Office says Miller deceived the victim into believing he was helping her pay her monthly expenses as well as providing landscaping and home repairs for compensation. But, he in fact provided little or no services or assistance.
The investigation revealed that Miller cashed checks on the victim's account and used the money to pay his own bills and make purchases for himself.
