Noise barrier walls proposed in the Metro

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

There's an idea to reduce traffic noise in neighborhoods next to Metro area interstates.

Central District Transportation Commissioner Dick Hall says he is looking for public input on noise barrier walls.

The walls would be built along the interstate and could cut the traffic noise in neighborhoods by as much as 50 percent.

Hall says the walls would have some decorative design.

Costs will vary based the materials used and the length of the walls.

Hall wants public input before money is spent on building noise barrier walls.
