Jackson to hire auditing firm for Metrocenter wiring

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

In a special meeting Thursday afternoon, the Jackson city council voted to hire an outside auditing firm to investigate the wiring of city offices at Metrocenter Mall.

Some members of the council, including Board President Tony Yarber, want an investigation into how developer Metro Retro used $50,000 for wiring purposes. High speed Internet wiring is the concern.

Council members toured the offices in August, but concerns about a person leaving Metro Retro lead to the call for an audit.

The mayor's office and city council will work together to hire an agency to do the work, despite having city auditors on staff.
