Woman struck by stray bullet on Jackson street

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Police say a 33-year-old woman is recovering after being shot in the genital area late Thursday night in Jackson.

According to Jackson Police spokeswoman Colendula Green, the shooting happened Thursday, just before 10:45 p.m. in the 800 block of Maple Street.

The unnamed woman told police she was standing outside in the area and heard shots fired. After hearing the shots she realized she had actually been struck.

She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police have no motive or suspect.
