Vehicle collides with Forest school bus

FOREST, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A vehicle collided with a Forest Municipal School District bus in Scott County Friday afternoon.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol 40 students were treated and released from a local hospital after the accident. 

The crash happened at Highway 35 and Coleman Road, between Forest and Carthage. 

The bus was traveling north on Highway 35 and the vehicle was traveling south when it hit the right side of the bus, according to MHP.

The driver of the car, Christopher Tucker of Forest, was was airlifted to University of Mississippi Medical Center with unknown injuries. However, Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee says Tucker was talking to emergency workers before he was flown to Jackson.

The driver of the bus was treated and released from a local hospital.

Lee says the Forest School District bus was taking students home after school, when the accident occurred.

Lee did not believe there were any life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash. However, he says every precaution is being taken to make sure everyone is OK.
