No tax hike for Hinds county residents

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Good news for Hinds County residents. There will be no tax increase for the 2012-2013 fiscal year. The Hinds County Board of Supervisors met Friday afternoon. $800-thousand dollars was put into a reserve fund.

Discussion included concerns about non-compliance with adequate staff at the Youth Detention Center to renovation or rebuilding costs of the Raymond Detention Center for adults.

There was debate about across the board raises for Hinds County employees. But they will have to wait. "It does not include pay raises for employees at this point. But it also does not include a tax increase for citizens of hinds county," according to Board President Robert Graham.
