Dinosaurs roam into downtown Jackson

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Pre-historic animals come to life this weekend in downtown Jackson. Kids and parents have a chance to see what a T. rex looks and sounds like, up close.

More than 60 animatronic and replica dinosaurs are at the Jackson Convention Complex for the traveling exhibit, "Discover the Dinosaurs."

You can see the pre-historic creatures breath, touch them, or even take a ride.

Kids also can go on their own fossil dig.

Organizers say it's an opportunity to teach outside the classroom.

"Everybody loves being a paleontologist, and being able to learn something new is just always good for kids," says Show Manager Steven Rosholt.

"Discover the Dinosaurs" will be close at 8 p.m. Saturday evening. It will be open Sunday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
