JSU Alumni Scholarship Gala featured BET's Ed Gordon

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Since 1877 Jackson State University has been educating students from Mississippi and around the country. JSU President Dr. Carolyn Myers joined alumni, students and supporters at the inaugural Black Tie Scholarship and Recognition Gala Friday night.

Radio personality Marcus Wiley and BET's Ed Gordon were featured guests. The chair of the event Dr. Earlexia Norwood is the physician in charge of the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, she is also a JSU graduate. She says every student who needs a book or aspires to make a difference in the world should have that opportunity.

The theme of the gala was raising the bar of excellence through scholarship and service.
