RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Rankin County man accused of nearly killing his son will spend the next 15 years in jail. Stephen Magee was sentenced to 25 years behind bars, with 10 years suspended. Once released Magee faces five years supervised probation.

In October, Magee and his girlfriend Rebecca Harrell were charged with 14 counts of felony child abuse. The charges came about after Magee's 4-year-old son was rushed to the hospital with numerous fractures, bruises and bleeding to the head.

Harrell was sentenced earlier this month and will also serve 15 years in jail. The sentences brought Callie Brown to tears Monday morning. Brown is the 4-year-old victim's mom. She and other family members said justice for her son hasn't been served.

"It's just not enough, even though he is doing great now it's just something he has to live with the rest of his life it's like telling them, telling Rebecca and Stephen that it's ok for them to do that it's not right," Brown said.

Brown said her son is currently in DHS custody.
