JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The body of a missing Brandon woman was found Tuesday night.

60 year old Lenora Patsy Edhegard's body was discovered on West County Line Road near Tougaloo College in Madison County. Apparently, the suspect led authorities to that site.

The Madison County Coroner transported her body to the state crime lab where an autopsy will be performed.

Authorities were alerted when Edhegard didn't show up for work Tuesday morning at Daniel, Coker, Horton & Bell, P.A.

A man found driving Edhegard's vehicle in Jackson was arrested. Police say 30-year-old Cortrell Rose, who is a registered sex offender, was apprehended inside the Walmart on Highway 18 in Jackson around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Multiple law enforcement agencies had been searching for Rose Tuesday afternoon after he reportedly fled when police spotted him in Edhegard's vehicle in the Walmart parking lot.

"Investigators saw the victim's car here in this parking lot, attempted to stop it and the suspect jumped out and ran through the parking lot...he came out with a weapon. The officers drew down on him, said drop the weapon, stop fleeing," said Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey. "He did drop the weapon but he continued to flee so the weapon that he did have on him we have in custody, he was hiding behind the coke machine inside the front entrance."

A family member of Edhegard tells WLBT Rose was living next door to Edhegard in Brandon. However, Rose's address is listed on the Mississippi Sex Offender Registry as 128 Grover Cleveland Drive in Jackson. Rose did not register as a sex offender when he moved to Rankin County.

The family member says bloody sheets were found in the back of Edhegard's vehicle. Rose had also written a note to Edhegard recently that said he was attracted to her, according to the family member.

Sheriff Bailey says a search of the woman's Reservoir-area house produced information that led deputies to the Walmart on Highway 18. He would not comment on what that was.

Rose is being held in the Rankin County Detention Center and is charged with Edhegard's murder.
