Parents differ on definition of bullying

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

While nearly all parents agree schools need to do something about bullying, they're not all on the same page about what constitutes "bullying."

A new survey finds 95-percent of adults say schools should intervene when students feel threatened or afraid for their safety.

But just about half considered social isolation from peers "bullying" and about that many didn't think school leaders needed to do anything about it.

However experts say isolating a student socially may be linked to episodes of school violence and even teen suicide.

This study is from researchers at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.
