JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson man has been found guilty on three counts of child sex charges. The Hinds County District Attorney's office says a jury found Tremaine Whitaker guilty of statutory rape, sexual battery and gratification of lust.

The case involved the 14-year-old child of his live-in girlfriend. Assistant District Attorney Jamie McBride says the rape occurred in May 2011.

We have obtained a surveillance photo of 32-year-old Whitaker. It was taken inside Whitten Middle School and presented in court Thursday.

Whitaker forced the teenager into his car while she was waiting for the school bus, according to McBride.

Prosecutors say he took her to an apartment where the sexual attack took place. Then Whitaker checked the 7th grader back into Whitten Middle School. He signed a fake name and hurried out of the building.

The photo was used as evidence to place him at the scene. DNA evidence was also used against Whitaker.

Whitaker denied the charges even though the DNA evidence proved the sexual assault. His victim testified against him in court Thursday.

The convicted sex offender faces sentencing Oct. 12 before Circuit Judge Jeff Weill. He faces 75 years in prison.
