Byram's historic Swinging Bridge is about to undergo some big repairs.
The cable suspension bridge was built back in 1905 to make it possible to quickly cross the Pearl River. On Wednesday, Hinds County Supervisors voted to approve a $490,000 contract to begin restoration of the bridge, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Supervisors say the Swinging Bridge is a good conversation piece for people traveling through Byram.
