Experts learn to predict E-D in prostate cancer cases

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Researchers may have found a way to predict which men are most in danger of developing erectile dysfunction after treatment for prostate cancer.

Radiation therapy for prostate cancer -- among other related treatments -- can sometimes lead to impotence.

Now a new study from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York identifies 12 genetic markers associated with erectile dysfunction after radiation.

Researchers hope they can someday use this information to create a blood test to determine a man's E-D risk. @
