Deadline Oct. 6, for registration of general election

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Time is running out for those wanting to register to vote for the up coming November general election.

The Jackson urban Network Voter Education and Registration Rally was forced to move indoors because of Sunday's rain.

However, a number of people showed up to register. There was also food and music. Organizers hope residents understand the importance of casting a ballot and what it means for the country's future.

"We are simply telling people to register and to vote for whomever they may want to, but it's important that we motivate and educate the people so they can get to the polls," said Percy Davis, with WOAD.

The last day to register to vote in the general election is October 6th.
