Smoking after a stroke not recommended

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Smoking after a stroke can stunt memory, thinking and decision making.

A study of 76 stroke patients found smokers scored two points lower on a cognitive assessment than non-smokers.

Interestingly, patients who were former smokers scored the same as lifetime non-smokers.

-Study led by researchers at Hamilton General Hospital (CAN) and presented at the Canadian Stroke Congress
