JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson firefighters administered first aid to a gunshot victim dropped off at a fire station on Medgar Evers Boulevard Tuesday afternoon.

Officer Colendula Green with the Jackson Police Department says a vehicle pulled into Fire Station 20 around 4:30 p.m. and let out a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

Fire department Deputy Chief R.D. Simpson says the man then walked into the station and asked for help.

Firefighters tended to his head injury until an ambulance transported him to University Medical Center.

Green says the 30-year-old was believed to have been shot in the area of West Lane and Queen Eleanor Lane.

Officers found the car that dropped him off in west Jackson.

The unidentified man remains in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
