GLUCKSTADT, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Gluckstadt man was killed in a fire at his home at 104 Bo Murphy Road, early Thursday morning. The victim was discovered by firefighters inside what was left of the structure after they had extinguished the blaze, according to a captain with the Madison County Fire Department.

The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Billy Murphy. Murphy's sister, Dorothy Bracey confirmed that it was her brother who was trapped in the house and died.

Fire officials said Murphy lived at the home with his two brothers, and they survived the fire.  The captain said they received the call at 12:30 AM and when they arrived the home was "fully involved".

At arrival they determined someone was trapped inside, but fire officials said the inferno was too intense to access the single story residential dwelling.

The fire is being investigated at this time.
