One person was slightly injured after a report of shots being fired early Saturday morning near the Mississippi State Fair.
A spokesman for AMR ambulance service says paramedics responded to the area of High and Monroe Streets after a shots fired call with injuries.
A male victim refused to be taken to the hospital at the scene, according to AMR.
A WLBT viewer, who did not want to be identified, describes what she saw and heard about 2 a.m. while stopped at a red light, at the intersection of High and Monroe.
"We heard about 10 or 15 gunshots, at least, and a whole crowd of people came running out. And there was a police officer standing on the outside, on High Street, and drew his gun and hid around a brick wall and was checking out the scene, and then he kind of went in further, ducking behind bushes and stuff and then a couple of other cops done the same thing. Finally our light changed and we were able to go through, but by that time there was probably, at least, 10 police cars that had done showed up and then two ambulances were pulling up behind them."
Spokespersons for the Jackson Police Department and the Hinds County Sheriff's Department say the agencies did not respond to and are not investigation a shooting or shots fired call at the fairgrounds or in the area of the fair.
