
A Hinds County Sheriff's Deputy and two former Metro-area law enforcement officers were among four people arrested by FBI agents on charges of conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States and theft of government property.
George Hilliard, 43, of Madison, Zach Robinson, 45, a deputy with the Hinds County Sheriff's Office, Kent Daniels, 44, a former Jackson Police Officer and investigator for the Hinds County District Attorney, and Watson Lee Jackson Jr., 42, a former Madison County Sheriff's deputy were arrested.
A federal indictment alleges between Sept. 6, 2011 and Nov. 27, 2011 the men conspired to steal government property and discussed how to steal cash and personal property from drug dealers traveling to Mississippi from other states.
According to the indictment, on Sept. 30, 2011, the men allegedly conspired to take $23,000 and seven iPads from a Jackson hotel room from individuals they believed to be drug dealers.
The men were released on $10,000 bond. If convicted, they face a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.
