Second presidential debate moderator, CNN's Candy Crowley, on AM Report

Posted: Updated:

CNN's Candy Crowley, who will be moderating the second presidential debate between President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney October 16, joined Katina Rankin and Brandon Artiles for a live interview on the WLBT AM Report, Thursday.

Crowley discussed her role as moderator and the significance of debates, especially after the first debate last week, which provided Romney a bounce in the polls.

"It's the same job if they're 50 points apart or one point apart," Crowley said. "The job is to get them to engage in as open and honest a way as they can with each other about where they differ."

CNN's chief political correspondent also detailed the pressure she feels as the first woman to moderate a debate since Carole Simpson in 1992.

"You can't put any more pressure on me than I put on myself," Crowley shared.

The second debate at Hofstra University in New York will be a change-up to the first debate at the University of Denver on October 3. Crowley will ask the candidates questions provided by an audience that Gallup has polled as "undecided" voters.
