A 32-year-old Jackson man has been sentenced to a total of 75 years in prison for the statutory rape of a 14 year old girl.
A jury found Tremaine Whitaker guilty of statutory rape, sexual battery and gratification of lust. The case involved the 14 year old child of his live in girl friend.
Hinds County Circuit Judge Jeff Weill sentenced Whitaker to 30 years for statutory rape, 30 years for sexual battery, and 15 years for gratification of lust, to run concurrently.
Judge Weill also had some tough comments about what Whitaker was found guilty of doing.
"You did offer various alibi explanations from two of the many women with whom you have had sex, and with whom you have children" said Judge Weill "And you had four other women available to you to satisfy your sexual impulses, and you chose instead to prey on this little girl. In light of your senseless and callous nature of your sexual assault, on a 14 year old girl, I see nothing which compels me to reduce or mitigate your sentence. You caused real pain which will never be gotten over."
Whitaker will serve a minimum of 30 years behind bars.
