Firefighters battle abandoned house fire

Posted: Updated:
RAYMOND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Efforts to clean up an abandoned house in Hinds County sparked a raging fire Saturday.

Hinds and Byram firefighters responded to the scene at Palestine and Thomas Drives in Raymond.

The vacant structure went up in flames sometime after 3 p.m.

According to fire officials, the blaze started from power lines still attached to the house.

The fire was allowed to burn itself out once it was contained.

Firefighters also had to contend with intense heat and October temperatures in the mid 80's.

No injuries were reported.
