Operation Christmas Child to help children around the world

RICHLAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Christian organization is preparing to make sure children around the world have Christmas presents.

Volunteers and First Baptist Church Richland held a kick off party this weekend for Operation Christmas Child Collection season.

The church is one of 11 collection centers in the Jackson area.

The non profit organization hopes to collect 23,000 shoe boxes in the area.

Those boxes will be filled with small toys and toiletries for children living in poverty.

Operation Christmas child delivers the boxes to more than one hundred countries.

Donated items will be collected and boxed the week of November 12th.
