JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
The Hinds County Board of Supervisors will revisit the request to expand a landfill, just south of Clinton.
At its last meeting the board voted down an expansion request for fair cloth rubbish. However, the issue is back on the agenda for Monday's meeting.
Homeowners and some elected officials have opposed expanding the 30 acre site. Bill Moore says despite repeated attempts, he plans to fight any proposal to bring more trash into Fair Cloth.
"We're wondering what's going on here? We beat this thing at the zoning meeting, the board of supervisors. The opposition has failed to produce clear and convincing evidence that this zoning ought to be approved. Therefore, the board needs to stand by their decision," said Bill Moore, whose opposed to the landfill.
Supervisor Doug Anderson is expected to bring up the issue. The board of supervisors will meet at 9 a.m. in Jackson.
