JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
A new study finds car smoking produces levels of harmful pollutants that far surpass the recommended air quality standards.
Researchers found levels were ten times higher during car trips with smoking than those without smoking.
Opening the car windows or turning on the air provided some ventilation ... But levels still exceeded the maximum safe limit.
This exposure to second hand smoke has been linked to asthma, middle ear disease and other health problems among children.
-Study led by researchers at University of Aberdeen (SCOT) and published in 'Tobacco Control'
