JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Former Jackson Police officers Monyette Quintell Jefferson, 27, and 25-year-old Terence Dale Jenkins pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to accepting bribes from an undercover FBI agent.

In their guilty pleas, Jefferson and Jenkins admitted their involvement in protecting drug transactions of drug traffickers who were actually undercover FBI agents.

The crime was committed in 2010 when the two and a third former JPD officer met with the undercover FBI agent in the parking lot of Hawkins Field in a department patrol car.

Jefferson and Jenkins will be sentenced on January 7, 2013. They each face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Former Jackson Police Officer Anthony Ricardo Payne, Junior is scheduled for trial before U. S. District Judge Dan Jordan on November 6, 2012.
