COPIAH COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
3 On Your Side has learned Linda Gale Reed had a storage space rented from a mini-storage facility just 500 yards away from where her vehicle was found.
Her vehicle was discovered in a wooded area near South Pat Harrison Road in Crystal Springs.
This week, the status of the 65 year old was changed from missing to wanted for embezzlement.
Reed worked as a bookkeeper for Moore Fabrications in Gallman. More than $20,000 has been discovered missing from the books.
The cash is missing from the 2010 petty cash fund, but Copiah County Sheriff Harold Jones says the forensic investigation into the missing money is far from over. It's unknown at this time if more money is missing from the company.
Sheriff Jones confirmed that Reed had a storage space at the facility, and it was empty when investigators looked at it. He says it may be another piece of the puzzle in solving the disappearance case.
We called the owners of the mini storage. They would not comment on whether the space was emptied just before Reed disappeared.
Reed was last seen April 29 at a Walmart in Hazlehurst.
