LEAKE COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Residents in Leake County are cleaning up from the strong storm that hit early Thursday morning.
The heaviest damage was recorded just outside the city of Carthage on East Franklin Street.
One house was completely destroyed and several others were heavily damaged.
Johnny Reeves who witnessed the storm says, "I heard a train sound, then we started hearing about damage, houses being blown down. We came out to survey and saw it was several houses."
A log cabin home owned by Harold and Lynette Wiggins, was moved more than 30 yards off its foundation.
"The roof started popping, then about ten seconds later it was over. We felt the bed elevate a little bit but we never felt it go back down. We lost everything," says Wiggins.
The homeowners were asleep when they felt their bed start to slide across the floor. The house landed on two cars.
Several antique vehicles were destroyed in a nearby garage that was torn apart in the storm.
No one was injured.
Entergy crews were in the area by early morning restoring power to the neighborhood.
There were also reports of a chicken farm that had six barns damaged off Highway 16 as well as other homes damaged.
