Women who have an ectopic pregnancy the first time around tend to have fewer children than those whose first pregnancies end in a delivery, miscarriage or abortion.
About one percent of pregnancies are ectopic meaning the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus and can't survive.
Researchers who followed these women discovered they had fewer deliveries and pregnancies than any other group over the next 20 to 30 years.
They also had five times the risk of a second ectopic pregnancy.
