Young people in danger with mobile devices

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The dangerous habits of kids might be putting them at risk for getting hit by a vehicle.

A new study finds young people have become that distracted by cell phones, MP-3 players or hand-held games.

Experts say nearly half of older children and a third of teens were hit when they crossed a street mid-block.

And 18-percent of teenagers were using an electronic device when struck.

Boys are more likely than girls to be hit by cars in the study.

This study is from researchers at NYU Langone Medical Center, and is presented at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) National Conference and Exhibition.
