JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jacktober Fest drew thousands downtown in the capital city.

It's a unique and tasty event to usher in fall.

The 12 hour street festival wrapped up Friday night.

Jacktober Fest had plenty of bands, brats, and beer.

The event was created by a couple of friends six years ago. With the state capital as the back drop, 35 craft brewers competed to have the best suds this year.

Picnic tables were set, for folks to sit and enjoy the bands.

Stephen Barnette, Jacktober Fest co-organizer said  Mississippi's new craft beer law has made a positive impact on the festival and others like it.

"We actually know of people who are traveling here from Tallahassee, Florida and other areas, regional areas across the river in Louisiana and people from Alabama who are here today; who are coming to this festival this weekend and they're staying in hotel rooms. They're buying, you know, food while they're here," Barnette said.
