Mississippi Farmers Market holds 'Fall Harvest Fest'

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Mississippi Farmers Market ended its season Saturday with a fun event called the Fall Harvest Fest. Along with Mississippi-grown produce, shoppers enjoyed cooking demonstrations by a few vendors, including Ridgeland's Ro Chez Restaurant. Live music and lots of homemade crafts were also part of the festival.

Since the Mississippi Farmers Market is a family destination, there's also a host of activities for children.

"Teaching them how to plant, teaching them how to paint a terra cotta pot, getting them interested in agriculture, which is what makes Mississippi," says Farmers Market Manager Frank Malta.

Now that the season has wrapped up, the Farmers Market will be open on Saturdays only from 8am to 2pm, until December 22.
