Man's body found in Mississippi River

NATCHEZ, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Authorities found a man's body in the Mississippi River, after he apparently fell from his boat during a fishing trip.

The body of 80-year-old Harold Short was found about 12:30 Saturday afternoon, about a mile south of the Adams County Port in Natchez.

Sheriff Chuck Mayfield says Short, of Ferriday, Louisiana probably fell in the water while trying to haul up a net.

The search began after a coast guard crew found an empty boat with the motor running.

Mayfield says short's family declined an autopsy.
