Deadbeat dad in court

A Hinds County man answers for his failure to pay child support.

35-year-old Vernon J. Richards of Jackson pleaded guilty Monday for felony non-support of his two children in a Bolivar County courtroom.

A Judge ordered Richards to serve 10 years probation.

Richards owes some $53,000 in child support. Monday he had to pay just over $2,500 towards that and for the next ten years he must pay $200 on top of his regular payments.
