Crechale's moving from Jackson

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Crechale's restaurant has been a Jackson staple for 57 years. But that's about to change, because the landmark eatery is moving to Flowood in Rankin County.

The owner, Bob Crechale, says it's going to be tough leaving the capital city after 42 years in the Highway 80 building.

He says the move is necessary after the recent loss of nearby big businesses like Sears and Puckett Machinery.

Crechale said there are other reasons for the relocation.

"One of them is our taxes keep going up and down here. And it's very difficult when they keep raising our taxes on us and it's tough to make a living here. And the perception, the people have a bad perception of this end of town."

But there's no need to despair if you're a fan of the Highway 80 Crechale's. It will remain open in Jackson until 2013.
