Former WLBT News Director Hagan Thompson died earlier this week in Atlanta. Hagan, 85, joined WLBT in 1953. He was also host of WLBT's "Teen Tempos", a live Saturday afternoon dance show.
Hagan also sang roles in Mississippi Opera productions, starred in plays at the Little Theatre and New Stage Theatre, and was tenor soloist at Galloway Methodist Church.
Hagan took a job with the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency in 1972 and moved his family to Atlanta. He retired in 1988 as head of the Public Affairs division of the Southeast Region of the EPA.
The family will hold a memorial service sometime in December.
